Co-Occurring/ Addiction counseling is an evidence-based treatment that improves your ability to identify and change negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Cognitive and dialectic behavioral therapy is very effective during substance abuse treatment. Sharing your emotions and feelings in a supportive, therapeutic environment can improve your ability to communicate and cope with stressors.

Counseling for addiction and co-occurring disorders also helps you set goals and plans, such as employment or education goals. Another important part of co-occurring/ addiction treatment is developing useful and healthy coping strategies. Stressors like negative emotions or significant life changes can put you at risk of relapsing. Acquiring tools and skills to handle stressors can help you maintain sobriety and abstinence.

Heartland Counseling Services offers OWI assessment, outpatient addiction counseling for individuals, and a variety of recovery groups. Co-Occurring/Addiction counseling is utilized alongside other treatments and treatment providers such as medication management/prescribers, holistic intervention/providers, and community supports. Heartland Counseling Services counselors believe in a collaborative approach to wellness and encourage clients to see multiple avenues of support and intervention to become and maintain the best version of themselves.

HCS  provides a  multi-system approach for client recovery. Many individuals will utilize both individual and group counseling for greater chance of success.

Individual Counseling

Individual counseling is an effective treatment method that offers one-on-one sessions with trained therapists. In this private and discreet setting, clients can express themselves freely without the fear of judgment.

Group Counseling

Group counseling is a form of therapy, which posits that people benefit from shared experiences. Group counseling reduces isolation and provides group members an opportunity to learn from each other through discussion.

Enhanced Outpatient Program (EOP)
