My Approach
I used to teach children, and I have been told I have a Mr. Rogers energy (“Mr. Rogers Neighborhood”). I like to say my approach is a mixture of Mr. Rogers and Carl Rogers (the founder of person-centered therapy, the approach I resonate with most deeply). That means providing a space where you can feel safe, seen, and unconditionally accepted, and being a person who is genuine, authentic, and listens with my whole being.
I believe a powerful part of therapy lies in the therapeutic space and the therapeutic relationship itself. I believe you are the hero of your own story, and my job is to support you accessing of your inner wisdom. Each person is unique, so we will figure out the next steps together.
I am under the direct clinical supervision of Alaina Ellington, LMHC
Note: Counseling Services Provided by Interns
Heartland Counseling Services is proud to support the next generation of mental health professionals. Counseling sessions with our clinical interns are offered free of charge as part of their supervised training experience.
Because interns are at a specific stage in their clinical development, all referrals are screened by licensed supervisors to ensure that each client’s therapeutic needs match the intern’s current competencies and areas of training. If at any point a client’s needs fall outside an intern’s scope, a licensed clinician will be recommended to ensure the highest quality of care.
Our goal is to provide accessible services while maintaining ethical, competent, and client-centered care.
